Ocean Network

Ocean Network was a promising Hawaii startup that created a television channel with ocean-related content on digital cable in Hawaii starting in 2007. Tanuki created the second version of the Ocean Network website, and later took on a larger role managing programming for the channel on a cutting-edge MPEG streaming server hosted at Oceanic Time Warner’s playback data center.

In 2012, David took on the role as acting-COO of the channel. Ocean Network left cable television and began streaming worldwide on the web and as a Roku channel, one of the first 100 channels available on the device. The channel offered a wide array of movies, shows and videos, from surfing and fishing, to underwater exploration and environmental advocacy.

Ocean Network ended operations in 2014 following the death of the founder.
